Have you ever found yourself cursing because the foil or plastic wrap just flew out of the box and unto the floor? If this has happened to you, then here’s a solutions to stop that madness.

Did you know that foil and plastic wrap boxes are designed to hold the roll in them? Yes, it’s true. Look at the ends of the box and you will see a little circle or triangle. Punch this in gently and voila your roll will not fly out again. Ingenious, right? Funny how things are right under our noses and we just can’t see them.

468970 ms TeleCell Telemarketers on Your Cell Phone

This is the month that cell phone numbers go public.   That’s right, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

And the worst part besides being disturbed all times of the day and night with an offer you don’t want or need…

…. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

To prevent getting telemarketing calls on your cell phone, call the following number from your cell phone:  888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list.  It will only take a minute or so of your time.  Registering your number will block it for five (5) years.

You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.  You cannot call from a different phone number.

Go ahead, get to calling!

167052 ms Your Community Resource: FREE!!!

“Desperate times call for desperate measures.”  I’m sure you’ve heard that before.  So today I will present a measure that is not so desperate, but very useful and cost-saving.  Our local library.  Yes, that’s right.

The public library represents much more today than just a building filled with books shelved according to the Dewey decimal system.  Have you been in a library recently?

Did you know that you can read the daily paper from cities around the country in your local library?  Or did you know that you can check out movies from your local library?  Or how about music CDs and games?  Did you know that you can use computers and even get on the world wide web?  And of course you can check out the latest books in fiction, non-fiction, children and so on.  But did you know that you can search the library collection of material from the comfort of your home?  Yep.  You can search it, put it on hold, have it delivered to a branch near your home and then wait on the phone call when it arrives.  How great is that!?!

But wait…there’s more.  Did you know that you can reserve meeting space for events that you would like to hold?  and most libraries will allow food and beverage in the meeting space.  Did you know that you can utilize a research assistant in the library?  That’s right, if you have something that you are working on, say a research paper or grant proposal, the research assistants at the reference desk can help you.  Sometimes they will physically accompany you in locating the appropriate materials.  Other times, they will point you in the right direction and guide you along the path.  But now for the kicker…did you know that you can download library books to your computer, mobile device or electronic book?  Yep, you read that right.  Most systems across the country have a  collection of  materials available to you electronically.

So what are you waiting for?  Get to the library.  It’s FREE.  Well okay you pay for the service through your property and/or sales tax, but at time of use, it’s FREE!!!

Thinking about it, I have some books I need to return.  No worries, I’ll just go online and renew my materials.  See you at the library…SHHH!
